Air Conditioners
Learn how an air conditioner keeps you cool.
An air conditioner sits outside the home, and is also sometimes called a condensing unit, or compressor. Air conditioners contain a series of piping inside them called the "outdoor coil". This coil is filled with refrigerant. When air conditioning your home on a hot Ventura day, the air conditioner compresses the refrigerant which releases heat energy into the air, and chills the refrigerant. The chilled fluid is then pumped inside to the
evaporator coil.
Once the chilled refrigerant is contained in the evaporator coil, the fan motor in the
furnace or
air handler turns on and pulls warm air from inside the home. The warm air is then forced through the coil, which cools and dehumidifies the air. It is then sent back into the home via ductwork.
A/C efficiency is measured using a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER). The higher the rating, the more efficient an air conditioner is.
For homes that do not have ducting installed, a
ductless air conditioning system is ideal. Samsung ductless systems offer high efficiency cooling for Ventura homes that cannot take a normal air conditioner installation.
